After talking through some design ideas we opted for a traditional ‘Victorian’ style layout with hand spun glass roundels and a gold leafed house name in the fanlight above the door.
It was a bit of a challenge squeezing the name into such a small fanlight but once the font and letter size were decided a fablon resist was hand cut and the gold leaf was applied, once dry the shadow lines were painted in by hand. Then the process of cutting the rest of the glass began…
The panel was then leaded, soldered and cemented.
Once the cement was dry the panel was brushed, picked & polished and then fitted along with the main panels for the door.
